Bioconversion is the transformation of organic materials, such as plant or animal waste - from food leftovers, to by-products of agri-food processing, or crop - by biological processes or agents, turning them into useful materials.

The use of black soldier fly (BSF) as a bioconversion agent allow to convert  daily, all over the year, a large amount of organic undervalued co-products of the agro-industry into insect biomass and fertilizer, through the action of these detritivorous insects.

The Entofood R&D centre investigates and deepens research around the study of all stages of development of BSF in a controlled environment playing on the different parameters by genetic selection, nutrition, zootechnics, but also all the extrinsic parameters, in order to optimize the qualities of the biomass and its environment to facilitate the industrial breeding and processing.

Thanks to a high added value and green technology, the Entofood company is dedicated to the research and development of the optimized production of insect-based functional ingredients for animal feed, and organic fertilizers for plant nutrition.
